Cheryl Burke too Fat?

(posted by Mrs. Sketch)
Cheryl Burke, 2 time winner on Dancing with the Stars, has been coming under severe criticism for gaining weight since last season. Tabloids, bloggers, and emails to the show have been calling her fat, speculating whether she is pregnant, and saying she needs to join Jenny Craig.

First of all, she admits she has gained 5 pounds as she took the summer off from dancing, but has already begun to lose weight since the return to 7 hours of dancing daily. But even if she didn't, how can anyone call her fat. She is a curvy girl to begin with, but she isn't flabby by any means, and is very well toned in my opinion.

Secondly, I suspect those that suggest she join Jenny Craig have their own agenda, namely getting the company name in the spotlight.

What's wrong with our society. How can a person who is physically fit and can perform like Cheryl does be accused of being fat? Just because we don't see her collar bone like most of the frail celebrities doesn't make her overweight. What message does this send to young girls? Cheryl is a size 4. The average size of women in this country is 12 to 14. I've heard the ideal size in Hollywood these days is a "0". It will be interesting in the years to come to see how these skeletal celebrities fair health wise.

Cheryl Burke is comfortable with her size, but has been deeply hurt by all the criticism as you can well imagine. We're born with a genetic code that determines our build - all we can do is be the best we can be, and no one has the right to impose their standards on other people. It's all so catty in my opinion, and very hurtful.

I agree, it's ridiculous to call her fat. Too much emphasis is put on size anyway in our society. She's just a healthy looking lady.

When I saw the first episode of Dancing, I did notice that Cheryl does not look as slim as she used to. Her face and her body are more voluptuous but to call her fat is ridiculous. She is a beautiful, curvy woman and amazingly fit. She dances like an angel and looks great in all her costumes. Perhaps before she was way too thin and now she is a healthy weight. To criticize her and to mock her body is absolutely ridiculous. If the people making disparaging comments were half as fit as she is, I'd be surprised. She is beautiful.

5 pounds, she gained 5 pounds? Come on this is absurd. Yes they wear very skimpy outfits, and not much is hidden, but who is even noticing 5 pounds. What is wrong with society, is exactly right.

i totally agree.in hollywood they have this warped sense that a fit woman is a stock thin one that is a size zero,if your not in that scale then your fat!!!its sending the wrong msg to our young girls..and cheryl is far from bieng fat, chubby or chunky!that is a real womans figure.

Not even being a size 0 is good enough. Eva Longoria is a size 0, and they're calling her fat just becuse she, in her words, "got a little rounder" for the upcoming season of Desperate Housewives. It's sickening! They'll never be happy until women disappear when they turn to the side!

Thanks for all your comments. I too noticed she had picked up a couple pounds when the season started but by no means did she look fat. I didn' think too much of it because I can gain 5 pounds over the period of a week depending what I eat and drink, but when I heard all the fuss about it I had to speak out - it's just so ridiculous.
